“The invisible is the visible that can’t be seen” Giovanni Anselmo
My job involves the practicalities of moving and installing large art exhibitions. Much of my work is in response to the size or value of the work I deal with on a daily basis. I had been working for a while on an exhibition of massive steel sculptures. They took many teams of people to manufacture transport and install. I needed to make the opposite: light and invisible. I needed to make something I could roll up, put in a bag and carry to a space where it could expand into a large work. The emotional connotations are that none of these objects can achieve their intended function.
All sculptures are made from monofilament and fingernail polish.
